Prince Fuad Zahir and Princess Farah Nour Ahmed Fuad Farouk.

Former King of Egypt, Fuad II of Egypt, has become a grandfather for the first time. He announced the news on his Facebook page. “With pride and joy I announce the birth of my first grandchildren Prince Fuad Zahir and Princess Farah Nour this morning Thursday 12 January 2017. God bless them and make them a source of happiness and contentment to their parents.”

The parents of the newborn twins are the former King’s eldest son Muhammad Ali, Prince of the Sa’id and Princess Noal Zaher of Afghanistan. Princess Noal is a granddaughter of the last King of Afghanistan. He met his future wife while attending the 20 April 2012 wedding of Prince Rudolf of Liechtenstein with Tilsin Tanberk and their betrothal was announced on 27 April 2013. They married on 30 August 2013 at Istanbul’s former Çırağan Palace and Prince Rudolf, and Princess Tilsin were among their guests. Prince Muhammad and his wife live in Paris, where he works in real estate. Princess Noal is the founder and directing designer for Noal & Co Ltd.

King Fuad was born on 16 January 1952 as the son of King Farouk I of Egypt and Narriman Sadek. He was just an infant when he was placed on the throne by his father in an attempt to save the monarchy after a military coup which ended his father’s own reign. By June 1953 the military completely deposed the monarchy and ended the reign of the infant King.
